Temple to the deified official "Tuzhu" (literally, "Earth Master"), who was a historical figure, an official in the Han Dynasty posted to what was then a remote outpost on the ethnic frontier of the Chinese Empire. The god's temple is placed in the landscape along the tea-horse trade route, guarding the approach to the ethnic Han-dominated Liusha River valley from the Tibetan areas to the northwest. The Tuzhu temple has been investigated and closed down by local authorities several times; hence the banner in front of the temple promoting the official government slogan, "struggle hard to comprehensively build a 'moderately well off' (xiao kang) society", referring to the economic goal set by Deng Xiaoping in the early 1990s。
